SIC slide rules were manufactured for Scientific Instruments in Berkeley, California by Japanese manufacturers Relay/Ricoh and Concise. SIC had custom models which added scale labels to the cursors, a handy, yet costly, technique which was never duplicated on other brands or by other manufacturers. Note that on slide rules that have the SIC Diamond Logo, the rules have serial numbers but do not have the pi (π) gauge mark on the A and B scales found on earlier slide rules without logos. The linear SIC Models numbers are normally a Relay model number with an extra zero (Relay 102 = SIC 1020). The SINCO logo was used in 1965
Note: Almost all the slide rules shown in this gallery were gifted to the Computer History Museum in Mountainview, California so we are left with virtual images (Ref: Pxxx, Cxx, Sxxx). If you have a physical replacement for the ISRM archives, your gift would be appreciated by all.

Bob Dehn's Collection gifted by wife Fran (McGroary) Dehn of Menlo Park, California.
Robert "Bob" Dehn (1941-2000) graduated from UC Berkeley with a degree in chemistry. Following his graduation, Bob started work as a pharmaceutical chemist at Stanford Research Institute, which later became SRI International. It was there that he spent his entire professional career. It was also at SRI that he met his wife of 52 years, Fran McGroary. After receiving his MBA from Santa Clara University, Bob moved into marketing and business development for the Life Sciences Division of SRI where he continued until his retirement in 2007..Bob began collecting with his first slide rule while studying at UC Berkeley. During his career he continued to collect from colleagues, antique shows and swaps.

Donated by Barbara Oppliger, belonged to husband Melvin Oppliger.
The photo of Melvin Eugene Oppliger (c1941-2017) shows him on his way to Okinawa. On his second tour, he was stationed in Honolulu, Hawaii in support of the NIKE missle there. Gene served six years in the Army and opted out in 1966 after he met and married Barbara. He worked for Datsun from 1970 thru 1983 mostly as a parts rep, that is where his love for the 510 sedan began. He retired from John Snyder Tool Company in 2007 after 17 years as a automotive tool rep. He loved anything car related and driving. During retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife of 51 years going cross-country in their motorhome.

Gift Of Marylyn (Stubbs) Ulrich For George Ulrich.
George W Ulrich (1938-2015) was one of the first to attend Marquette High School and Alton High School simultaneously. He took his skills in design and construction to McDonnell Aircraft's spacecraft and defense programs while attending Washington University night school. He retired from Boeing in 2003. During those years he served in the Army.In 1964 he married Alton resident Marilyn Stobbs and moved to Florissant, MO but retained his Knights of Columbus #460 membership.
